Since the Spring of 2024, Upper School girls have met monthly for Coffee Club, where caffeine helps to build community.
Junior Graycen McKone founded the Coffee Club in her sophomore year with the idea of bridging the gap between grades and allowing girls to connect over coffee. Not only did she want girls to be able to connect, but she wanted to allow them to serve: “One of the main goals of Coffee Club is to serve the teachers and faculty of Heritage Hall, so we love to bring coffee not only for our members, but for members of the staff as well.”
Members appreciate the monthly opportunities to hang out, eat, and drink coffee, citing it as one of their favorite clubs in the school. Coffee Club’s Social Media Coordinator Hannah Brown ‘26 says, “Coffee Club is one of my favorite clubs that I am a part of at Heritage Hall because it gives me the opportunity to hang out with my friends in all grades and to just relax.”
Heritage Hall’s Coffee Club is a key example of what it means to allow students to innovate as much as they wish. McKone said starting a club was made easy by the supportive faculty and the club’s sponsor, Service Director Tiffany Porter, who was a key part in developing the club. In its near year-long run, Coffee Club has gained an incredible 65 members and continues to grow. Its accessibility and welcoming atmosphere make it a unique part of Heritage Hall’s culture, and the service that lies at its heart makes it a unique part of the community.
